Amber Baltiers pen “scary,” inappropriate birthday tribute to Carly

Last week, Tyler Baltiera wrote a heartfelt poem in honor of 13-year-old Carly on her birthday.

She and Caitlin Lowell have made the best choices they can, but adoption is complex and passionate.

Tyler’s troubled sister, Amber, appears to be carefully fighting the boundaries around Carly.

Amber made a post of her own, promising to “keep in touch” with her niece.

Amber Baltier’s very public social media post is getting a lot of attention.

“My niece is 13 years old today,” he began.

“Happy birthday Carly,” Amber continued. So far, so good, isn’t it?

“I can’t wait to have a relationship with you legally,” Amber wrote.

“Do your best today,” he added.

While that tribute was a public post and not an answer, it wasn’t Carly’s idea that fans were outraged to see it – it was that he wrote it.

“She looks like she’s in a relationship,” a Reddit commentator observed.

“Quite selfish and inappropriate,” the radiator described, “not to mention immature.”

The commenter added: “I don’t want a relationship with Amber if I do [were] Carly. “

“Is Tyler’s family inappropriate and horrible about their relationship with Carly?” Another comment.

This commenter continued: “I’m shocked, I’m telling you, shocked!”

That, for the record, absolutely drips with sarcasm.

“This is disgusting and inappropriate on many levels,” wrote another Reddit user.

“Carly is her niece biologically,” the commenter admits, “but that’s it.”

Radiator noted: “He never met her or talked to her.”

“A stranger to Amber Carly,” wrote one user.

“And,” Redditter continued, “one day (in my opinion) Carly would probably be scared to see it.”

The commenter described: “This is Borderline Obsessive and Stalker …”

Others were more assertive but still dissatisfied.

Multiple commenters noted that Amber “clearly crossed some boundaries” both in the post and in her own mind.

Others felt for Brandon and Teresa Davis, feeling that Amber’s post was “disrespectful” to them as her adoptive parents.

Amber has been restless for some time.

It’s no secret that Tyler’s family had a problem – and he’s worked hard to get his share of mental and emotional baggage.

Amber has recently returned to the custody of her own children, and fans have long feared she could be under the influence again.

His post, however, could be a simple consequence of the lack of boundaries.

You don’t need to drink (or anything else) to cross certain lines, especially when it comes to family.

For millennia, people have been trampling on each other’s comforts with disrespectful statements about relatives.

But for an adopted child, or anyone else’s child custody issues are complicated, knowing that you have a relative who has an imaginary relationship with you … is weird.

Carly is thirteen. She is old enough, of course, that at least some of what was said about her came back to her.

Maybe Amber wasn’t thinking about that. Maybe that’s exactly what he was thinking. Either way, it’s not responsible or appropriate.
