Canceled after Riverdale 7 season, the premiere is back in 2023

This is the end of the line for Archie and company.

But Riverdale fans still don’t need to say goodbye for a while.

On Thursday, the CW announced that it was pulling the plug on this popular drama after a fun seven seasons, adding that its final premiere would not air until early 2023.

CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedovitz said during an executive call on Thursday, “I am a big believer in trying to deliver a series that has taken a decent farewell for a long time.”

“We had a long conversation [executive producer] Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] Yesterday, those who were thrilled with the news, and we will treat the show the way it deserves …

“We want to make sure it goes the right way.

“I think they also felt that seven years was the right amount. As a fan myself, I want to do what is right for the show. “

Riverdale Season 6 began last fall with a five-episode “RiverVail” event that saw Archie and company face a terrifying series of supernatural adventures, with Kennan Shipka even re-appearing as a Netflix character for teenage magician Sabrina Spellman.

It then returns in March 2022 with a new time slot and a new enemy of Percival Pickens (Chris O’Shea), who quickly captured the city with his mysterious mind-controlling powers.

However, those who do not know can be reassured:

Archie, Betty, Jughead and Cheryl finally learned that they have their own mysterious abilities.

Riverdale has completed 100

Riverdale was renewed for Season 7 in March with The Flash, All American, Superman and fellow CW dramas including Lois, Walker, Kung Fu and Nancy Drew.

While we can’t say right now how many episodes the show will have in the run-up to the show, Pedovitz said he “doesn’t believe it will be a short season.”

The show – produced by Roberto Aguere-Sakasa – has won accolades at the People’s Choice Awards, Teen Choice Awards and Kids’ Choice Awards over the years.

“I’m sorry, you know, it’s going to be really hard to say goodbye to Archie, Riverdale, Seth, our crew,” Apa told Entertainment Tonight after the announcement.

“We made a lot of memories on this show, for ourselves and the fans, so it’s going to be tough.”

The actor added:

“I think it’s perfect – all great things have to end. I feel good about it.”
