A man has been charged in connection with the disappearance of a 17-year-old boy Brittany Drexel.
As we are reporting, Drexel disappeared again in April 2009 while on a spring vacation in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The local New York and Palmetto State tourist was never found, and no trace of her has been found since her disappearance – until this week, when authorities closed the person interested in the case and made a major breakthrough in the investigation.

According to multiple media reports, sheriff’s deputies in Georgetown County, South Carolina – just south of the town of Myrtle Beach, where Drexel first went missing – arrested the 62-year-old. Raymond Moody In this case. Moody, who is already in Georgetown County Jail on charges of obstruction of justice, has been formally charged in the Drexel case with rape, murder and kidnapping.
The breakthrough came after police found Drexel’s body in Moody’s home. According to Spectrum News, Police first discovered unknown remains on Moody’s property late last week. Using dental records and DNA tests over the past few days, investigators were able to determine with certainty that those residues belonged to Drexel. Police now say Moody raped and killed the girl shortly after her April 2009 abduction, then buried her body on her property in a coastal county in South Carolina.
Police have previously tracked Moody’s at various points in the last 13 years, identifying him several times as a person interested in the case. A decade ago good intelligence work was even able to prove that Moody was in the exact same area that was from a Myrtle Beach hotel when Drexel went missing, although the man denied staying there. In 2012, police released a traffic citation given to Moody by a police officer the day after Brittany’s abduction, despite his denials that he was definitely tied up in the area.
Now the mother of the late teenager is seeking justice.
Speaking to the media this week after allegations against Moody, Don Drexel Says (below):
“It simply came to our notice then. I have been mourning my beautiful daughter Brittany for 13 years. But today it is bitter sweet. We are close and very close to the peace we desperately hoped for. “
CNN Reportedly, he added that he is optimistic about the end of this terrible situation:
“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter. The search for Brittany is now in pursuit of Brittany’s justice. “
Moody has a significant criminal history, according to local media reports, including where he spent two decades in California in 1983 for raping a young girl.
