“Half that makes me complete,

Mom, I have no words to describe how I feel now, tomorrow, and for the rest of my life. I never thought I would write such a post for you here. Mother, you are a hero. I keep telling myself that this is not real. I just want to hear your voice. I want to hear you talk to our dog in that stupid voice you make so loud that it wakes everyone up in the morning. I want to hear you say, ‘Nanis wake up early’ because I keep snoozing my alarm. I want to hug you one last time and I want to feel the jug in your hand because you were not only a teacher during the day, but also the most industrious cross fitter in the afternoon.

I want to get out of work and expect your call at 4:30 every day because you will do the first thing as soon as you get out. I want to see you sitting on the sofa that you claim to be sitting with our dog is just yours. I want to send you tick tock and say them again and again until Dad gets tired of us. I want to annoy you and wake you up so you can check out my chicken and make sure I haven’t cooked it. I want to sing karaoke with you and hear you sing ‘Bright as diamond!’ In your loud voice I want to fight you for stupid things and then laugh with you.

I want everything back. I want you to come back to me, mother. I miss you more than words. My beautiful mother, thank you for the funny memories. Thank you for being my best friend. Thank you for being the best mom anyone could want. You are now known to many and I am glad that people know your name and your beautiful face and they know what a hero looks like.

I don’t know what life would be like without you, but I will take care of my father. I will take care of our dog and I will say your name forever so that you will always be remembered, Eva Mireles, the 4th grade teacher at Rob Elementary who selflessly jumped in front of her students to save their lives.

My heart will be broken forever. My best friend, my twins were taken from me. Thank you for loving me in the best way possible and for raising me so strong. Everyone who knows you knows how outgoing and funny you are and I will miss your smile forever. I want to thank you mom for being such an inspiration to me. I will be forever proud to be your daughter. My dear mother, I will see you again. “
